Memories of Eunice Taylor
February 12, 1934 – May 8, 2009
Friday morning May 8, 2009 was a very sad day. Eunice Taylor, one of Hobscot’s founders and owners, passed away quietly in her sleep. She had not been ill, and worked a full day at the shop she loved so much on Thursday, sharing her laughter and advise with customers, and a cookie for the ‘kids.’
Everyone she touched in her 75 years, from those she played baseball with in the 50s (above), to her friends in Ft Lauderdale where Hobscot was founded, to those she touched in the Central Florida area after relocating Hobscot to Mount Dora, will forever have the memories of Eunice.
She was quite a lady, and will be tremendously missed.
If you click the baseball photo above, you will be able to view and download a PDF file with a story about Eunice’s life as one of the original ‘league of their own’ women baseball players.
